Morning Brief Framework

Most traders lose because they start with a trade idea.

Professionals start with market context.

Before placing a single trade, answer these questions:

1. What Is Volatility Doing?

  • Is VIX rising or falling?
  • Is volatility expanding or contracting?
  • Is the market pricing fear or complacency?

Higher volatility generally means larger moves, wider ranges, and more opportunity—but also more risk.

2. What Are Bond Yields Saying?

Watch the 10-Year Treasury Yield.

  • Rising yields = potential pressure on growth stocks
  • Falling yields = supportive for tech and QQQ

The bond market often speaks before equities react.

3. Where Is Dealer Positioning?

Understand where market makers may be forced to hedge.

Key questions:

  • Where is positive gamma?
  • Where is negative gamma?
  • What is the expected move?
  • Which levels act as magnets?
  • Which levels act as rejection zones?

Price often reacts to positioning before it reacts to headlines.

4. What Is The Trend?

Never fight higher timeframe structure.

Check:

  • Daily Trend
  • 4-Hour Trend
  • 1-Hour Trend

If all three align, probability improves dramatically.

5. What Is Today’s Catalyst?

Before the bell:

  • CPI
  • PPI
  • FOMC
  • NFP
  • Jobless Claims
  • Treasury Auctions
  • Earnings

Know what can move the market before the market moves.

6. Wait For Confirmation

The market owes nobody a trade.

Ask:

  • Is price respecting support?
  • Is price respecting resistance?
  • Is volume confirming?
  • Is momentum expanding?

Patience is a position.

The Goal

The goal is not to predict.

The goal is to identify situations where risk is small and opportunity is large.

Consistent traders do not chase moves.

They wait for probability to come to them.
